"Pie Pellicane" hand-embroidered Appliqué / Applicazione "Pie Pellicane"

This application features the "Pie Pellicane" motif, which depicts a pelican feeding its young with its own blood - recalling that our Lord feeds us with his own Body and Blood in the Holy Eucharist. In St Thomas Aquinas's Eucharistic hymn Adoro Te devote, he writes: “Pie Pellicane, Iesu Domine".  

The pelican embroidery is laid upon a sunburst motif that is hand-sewn with gold or silver-plated sequins and bullion yarns. 

It is completely made by hand embroidery in traditional French technique by our skilled embroiderers, with authentic materials of metal bullion yarns, metal shapes and sequins. 

The application is attached on a backing fabric cut around the rays, and can be attached by hand-stitching to vestments and altar textiles.
