The Roman-style humeral veil is made of Winchester brocade (100% viscose), with a machine embroidered eucharistic symbol in the sunburst IHS form. It is bordered with narrow wavy gold gallons, and features a pair of ornate gold-plated clasps. Lined in cotton.
The white humeral veil is always used for Benediction or for carrying the Blessed Sacrament in procession. Humeral veils in all the liturgical colours are used during High Mass by the sub-deacon in the traditional Latin Mass. Some processions and blessings, such as those with the relic of the true cross, may call for a red humeral veil to be used.
A pocket is sewn into the lining for the priest's hands.
